Every day you hear on TV and radio the subject of sleep deprivation. Listen to Larry Mantle on the popular show AirTalk talk about the “TV and film industry.” He suggests as a cure a new electronic device that will give you a warning before you fall asleep. Writing to 12on12off, a camerawoman said to keep her from falling asleep at the wheel, she would put her hair outside the window, roll it up, and hopefully that would warn her she was falling asleep. Long hair and electronic devices are not the answer to driving while sleep deprived. Who is asking the question of why we must risk our lives? The I.A.T.S.E., in a unanimous decision, links sleep deprivation and fatigue to critical safety and health hazards.
The organization 12on12off is asking Producers and Production Managers not to schedule more than 12 hours on Friday, March 21st . No Fraturday please. |
